| Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. The current programs available in Garrett County are Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, and Senior Girl Scout troops. We also welcome new groups of girls and parents to start their own troops. We offer training for this along with monthly leaders' meetings. Most funds for our activities are generated through our annual Nut sale in the fall and the Cookie sale in the winter. |

The Salvation Army provides emergency assistance to families, the elderly and the disabled. This assistance includes, but is not limited to, payments on utilities and rent, the provision of food, the provision of clothing, furnishings and household items at little or no cost. At Christmas, families are assisted with food and with new clothing or toys for their children. Whenever disaster strikes, Salvation Army mobile canteens and volunteers bring food, clothing, blankets and needed supplies. Workers comfort victims, provide counseling, help reunite families and provide for basic needs. The Salvation Army also provides extended services in major disasters involving massive cleanup or reconstruction. |
